Overview
LiveDraft is a live transcription and transcript editing app. It does not include a developer account system, advertising, analytics, tracking, or a generative AI service. LiveDraft does not communicate with servers operated by LiveDraft's developer.
This policy explains the information LiveDraft processes on your device, the information you may choose to store in your personal iCloud account, and the limited trial and purchase information supplied by Apple.
Data Collected by the Developer
LiveDraft's developer does not collect personal data or user content from the app. The developer cannot access your recordings, transcripts, session titles, dictionaries, corrections, searches, exports, Apple Account, payment details, or private iCloud data through LiveDraft.
LiveDraft does not include third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, crash reporting, or cloud transcription software development kits.
Microphone and On-Device Speech Recognition
LiveDraft requires permission to use the microphone and speech recognition to create a live transcript. The app processes microphone input on your device using Apple's Speech framework and SpeechAnalyzer.
LiveDraft does not send microphone audio or transcript text to servers operated by the developer.
Apple may download language or speech recognition assets required by the operating system. Those system interactions are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
You may revoke microphone or speech recognition permission at any time in Settings on iPhone or iPad, or in System Settings on Mac. LiveDraft cannot create new live transcripts without both permissions.
Transcripts, Sessions, Dictionaries, and Search
LiveDraft stores session titles, transcript segments, timestamps, glossary terms, and learned correction rules in app storage using Apple's SwiftData framework. Full-text session search runs locally against this saved content. LiveDraft does not transmit search terms or results to the developer.
When iCloud is available for LiveDraft, Apple CloudKit syncs session data through your private iCloud account so it can appear on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This is private app data, not a public or shared database, and it is not available to LiveDraft's developer.
If iCloud is unavailable or disabled, LiveDraft can keep session data in local app storage on that device.
Optional Saved Audio
LiveDraft does not save session audio unless Save compressed audio is enabled for that session. The app-level default is off. When enabled, LiveDraft creates a mono M4A recording using AAC compression and links it to the transcript.
When Sync saved audio with iCloud is enabled, a new recording is stored in LiveDraft's private iCloud Drive container and may be downloaded on your other supported devices that are signed in to the same Apple Account.
When that setting is disabled, a new recording remains in LiveDraft's local app storage on the device that captured it.
Deleting a saved recording removes the audio while preserving the transcript.
Deleting an entire session removes its transcript data and its associated recording where that recording is available to the device.
LiveDraft's developer cannot listen to or retrieve recordings stored locally or in your private iCloud account.
Exports, Sharing, and Clipboard
LiveDraft creates TXT and PDF exports on your device. The app shares an export only when you choose a destination through Apple's system share interface. Copy actions place transcript text on the system clipboard so you can paste it into another app.
The privacy practices of any app or service you choose as a share destination are governed by that third party. LiveDraft does not separately upload exports or clipboard content.
Seven-Day Trial and Lifetime Unlock
LiveDraft is free to download and provides a seven-day trial managed by the app. The trial does not start a subscription, does not begin an automatic charge, and does not require you to enter payment information in LiveDraft. After the trial, a one-time, non-consumable lifetime unlock is available through Apple's App Store.
To manage trial and purchase access, LiveDraft:
verifies Apple's signed app transaction date to establish the production trial start date;
checks StoreKit entitlement status for the lifetime unlock;
stores the earliest trial start date and latest observed time in the device Keychain; and
stores a synchronizable Keychain copy when iCloud Keychain is available.
These records are used only to determine trial and purchase access and to prevent the trial from restarting when the app is deleted and reinstalled or when the device clock is changed. They are not sent to servers operated by the developer.
Apple processes purchases, restorations, refunds, and payment information. LiveDraft's developer does not receive your card or bank details. After the trial ends, only the creation of new sessions is locked. Saved sessions remain available to open, edit, search, play, copy, and export.
iCloud and Apple System Services
LiveDraft uses Apple services including Speech, StoreKit, CloudKit, iCloud Drive, iCloud Keychain, and system sharing. Your use of those services is also subject to Apple's terms and privacy policy.
You can manage iCloud access in Settings or System Settings under your Apple Account. Turning off Sync saved audio with iCloud inside LiveDraft prevents new saved recordings from being moved to iCloud while leaving normal transcript sync unchanged.
Data Retention and Deletion
LiveDraft keeps sessions until you delete them or remove the app and its associated local data. Data stored in iCloud may remain in your private iCloud account and on other synced devices until it is deleted there or through LiveDraft. Apple retains App Store transaction records according to Apple's policies.
Trial records may remain in Keychain after the app is deleted. This is intentional so deleting and reinstalling LiveDraft does not restart the trial.
Children's Privacy
LiveDraft does not knowingly collect personal information from children or anyone else. A parent or guardian should supervise a child's use of transcription or recording features and ensure that recording is lawful and appropriate.
Recording Responsibility
Privacy and recording consent laws vary by location. You are responsible for obtaining any permission required before recording or transcribing other people.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated. Significant changes may also be described in App Store release notes.
